Zilker Park Summer Concerts
Zilker 2007: A Space Odyssey
Zilker Park Hillside Auditorium
Austin, TX
To close out the 2006-2007 season, the Austin Civic Orchestra will perform at Zilker Park for our FREE annual outdoor Zilker Park Summer Concerts. This year, the concert is titled Zilker 2007: A Space Odyssey, drawing from science fiction tv and movies. Highlights will include Johann Strauss Jr.'s Blue Danube Waltz and Richard Strauss's introduction to Also Sprach Zarathustra from 2001, selections from the movies Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Apollo 13, a Star Trek medley entitled Star Trek: Through the Years, and 3 movements from John Williams's Star Wars Suite for Orchestra. As always, there will be raffle held, where the winner will conduct the ACO in a rendition of Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever. So bring your blankets and picnic baskets and come listen to the ACO under the stars.
