Whose Rain Is This, Anyway?
My Mom says they are not getting any rain in Pensacola either. So I am not sure if we are getting Australia's rain, or Floridas rain, but we are still getting it, and we appreciate it. Thank you.
Recent Comment on my Project
I am told that a VC/Angel recently said that "what we've got is more lightweight and more efficient than IBM's competing software (they have a cross-platform flash based thing similar to NewIO but its not as lightweight or as powerful) and he said it makes [Microsoft] Silverlight look like dirt"

Last Night
We survived another rain deluge. I think Texas is coming out on top with this whole global climate change deal. If there is anything we could have asked for with Texas weather it would be less heat and more rain in July which is exactly what we are getting. Take that Al Gore!
We grilled some steaks. Then we played Clue. It is important to win those games during family game night because if the children win you never hear the end of it.
Our digital camera has turned up missing.

Enjoying Work
Working two jobs is working out better than I hoped. I was not so tired yesterday as I expected to me. I felt I could have gone longer, but I went ahead and worked a half day like I had planned. And so even though I worked 16 hours straight it felt like I was getting off from work early.
Even with my new schedule it looks like I will be home in the evening and have time to spend with the family. Last night Brandon and I went to the dollar movies in Round Rock and saw Spider Man 3 (better than I was led to believe). Kim was with friends and did not want to go. Marj and NatJ are in school now, and can not stay out too late, and Emily was not old enough.
Strangely I find myself with more energy not less working two jobs. It feels more like I am getting somewhere, getting things done. I guess blobbing around is an energy sapper. Thursday night I have a reception with the Austin Technology Council. I am working on getting my software company accepted into the local technology incubator.

First Day of School
Marjorie and NatJ both starved on the first day of school yesterday.
Marjorie is not used to switching classes and so she was told she can not bring her back pack to lunch, so the teacher opened the class back up so she could put it away and she forgot to get her lunch out. Since the teacher already opened it up once for her, she was too embarassed to ask again to open it up so she could get her lunch.
NatJ got confused about snack time and lunch time. When snack time came he got all of his food out, and when it was over the teacher said to through away his trash and so he threw his lunch away, so when lunch time came around he did not have a lunch.
So there is a time of adjustment in any new situation.

The Busy Life
I am on my second day of my new job and things seem to be going well. I was blessed right from the start when I walked in on the first day and my boss told me that they were very flexible and I could schedule my own hours. So I am thinking this is going to go real well. I am thinking of working 5 hours on Monday, 10 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and then 5 hours on Friday. That way I would still work 40 hours, but I would be able to get some sleep on the edge days.
I went to a CEO round table last night. Only CEOs of companies could go. It was sponsered by the Austin Technology Council and it was really amazing. An angel investor said he would call me about my project. We shall see.

Rain, Rain...
Pouring down rain again tonight. If Evan Almighty started building an arc around here probably everyone would think it a good idea!

I start my new job at Sun on Monday morning, giving me 2 full time jobs. It is a three month contract with a chance for an extension. So for three months I will be literally working 8 days a week. They say hard work will not kill you. I guess I will find out!

WARNING: New Phishing Scam
Phishing is when you get a fake e-mail from someone trying get you to go to a web site to provide personal information.
A new variant on this I am seeeing now are fake job offers asking you go to a web site and "apply" for a supposedly really great job.
For example, due to my resume on Monster.com I receieved a feeler from a company called "Admin Solutions" for a really great technical director position. A google search led to this board at scam.com.

Of Course...

So I get a second job to tie up all of my time. Of course as soon as I do that, the book contract that I have been waiting on for months, and to whom I have sent repeated messages asking about the status, and that I had finally given up on, comes through. I have until August 15th to write the book. Ooh boy. I am going to be very busy.
Yesterday I interviewd for another job with a financial company that I would like even more than the job I got. It was a grueling 4 hour interview and I met with 10 people (5 sessions of 2 people). It seemed to go pretty good. Not perfect, but not bad. I should hear something on Friday. I am not quite as hot on the job as I was. The business is still very interesting. They have no customers and no product. They just use computers to suck money out of the financial markets. But I would work Sunday through Thursday to coincide with the Asian markets and not Monday through Friday as I was expecting. So the bottom line would be that I would never get to go to church. I would miss Eric and Amy.
It is still raining here. We have had more rain so far this year than we have had all of last year put together. We are totally Seattle now. Not that I am complaining.
We are supposed to go to The Baileys for a 4th of July party today. Hopefully he will let me jam on his axe.
Happy Birthday United States of America!
