Pave The Rain Forest!

I am sorry for so many posts lately, but this had me rolling...

MindField Agent Jacquelyn KIng works the crowd at Lollapalooza 2003 trying to get signatures suppoprting her important organization the Pave The Rain Forest Foundation (PTRFF).

Flixens Goes Live

Ok. My good friend Joey has jut launched a new web site that provides movie reviews from a female perspective. It is called Flixens.

He does not do the movie reviews. There is an editorial staff for that. He makes the fancy pants web site. So anyway, check it out already.

It occurs to me, that I surround myself with creative people.

Emporer Dad Available Now!

My friend Henry Melton has written a science fiction novel called Emporer Dad and he is also self publishing it, so if you like science fiction, check it out.

I am reading it now, and hope to have a full review here soon.

Memorial Day

Here in the United States, today is Memorial Day. This is a day where we remember those of our countrymen who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that the rest of us enjoy.

At 3pm we are all supposed to share a moment of silence and remembrance. called the "National Moment of Remembrance".

There are also other ways to observe Memorial Day.

Basketball Guy

My nephew Brandon, who recently came to live with us, is a basketball guy. This is a picture of his team "Rising Stars" after they won first place in a tournament last weekend. He is the white guy on the right.

New Links!

In keeping with my policy of linking to pretty much any sane person that links to me, I introduce the following two fellow bloggers:

Kristy, a real single mom. A picture of her and her cute daughter is above.

Charley, a student in Singapore. Her picture is below.

They are both very interesting people. Please welcome them, and enjoy thier blogs.

Thank you.

Speaking of Souls...

I have long been fascinated by The Souls.

P.S.Cool. I just noticed Margot Asquith's autobiography is avilable for free at Project Gutenburg.

Interestingly Margot Asquith is the step-great-grandmother of actress Helena Bonham Carter.

Working 2 Jobs

Well I am working 2 jobs. I was not too tired yesterday, my first day (after getting off a 12 hour shift from my first job), but I got sent home after only a couple of hours because the contract was not quite right. So anyway I worked a full day today and completed my first deliverable which was a report on thier current server configuration. They seemd happy with it, and are taking action on a couple things that I pointed out.

On the other hand they only want me to come in half a day tomorrow. I am not sure this job is going to work out because I am really looking for steady employment, and not employment on an on-call basis. I think I will let me contracting company know that if a steady job comes up I will take it.

The Soul Test

You Are a Visionary Soul

You are a curious person, always in a state of awareness.
Connected to all things spiritual, you are very connected to your soul.
You are wise and bright: able to reason and be reasonable.
Occasionally, you get quite depressed and have dark feelings.

You have great vision and can be very insightful.
In fact, you are often profound in a way that surprises yourself.
Visionary souls like you can be the best type of friend.
You are intuitive, understanding, sympathetic, and a good healer.

Souls you are most compatible with: Old Soul and Peacemaker Soul

More L O S T (RIP Libby)

Another good episode. So Libby is dead? That does not make sense. She was just featured on a previous episode, and they had the twist that she was a patient at the hospital, so I was looking forward to the story behind that and now she is dead instead. I thought Jack would save her. It does seem like they are making this stuff up as they go, instead of having a long range plan, otherwise, why feature Libby just to kill her off?

We are learning a lot more about The Others. I think they are not living in primitive tents, but are really the guys behind all of the technology and experiments. Why did they take Michaels blood? What did Walt mean by that they are not what they seem?

I knew Michael would give himself away. He was acting way too controlling. I think a second team led by Saheed will follow the first group to find The Others and they will not tell Michael.

Locke cured his leg problems in record time for the second time (the first time being when he first got to the island). I thought he might join the attack on The Others, but he grabbed his back and went off on his own. What could he be up to?

Why is Echo so interested in the bunker, esp now that everyone else seems to have lost interest in it? I tell you what. If I was on a desearted island, I sure would be living in that nice bunker instead of out under a palm tree somewhere.

And now a boat? Will there be anyone on it? What could it mean? It means the 2 hour season final next week should be good.

The DaVinci Code (Part II)

You know where I said The Da Vinci Code would make a good movie? Apparently I was wrong. It is getting panned by the reviewers.

When you read the book, it reads like a movie, but apparently when you actuially make a movie about it, it just seems silly and boring.

My Old URL

I notice my old blog URL has already been taken over by spammers...

I did get the job and will start work on Monday. I will be working two full time jobs, so I will be pretty busy for a while.

My Old Blog Not Quite Gone

I deleted my old blog becase I have been looking for more work, and it had my full real name on it, so if you do a Google search on my name, my blog comes up. I did not want any silly kibitzing with friends to influence my job prospects and my ability to put food on the table.

I did make a backup of it before I deleted it. You can find it here:

http://silver.newio.org/conversazione.html

I thought my interview went real well on Tuesday. but then I found out that I did not get the job. I did have another inteview today at 10:00am, and I understand I did get this job, and they are working out all of the paperwork as I type this. This job is a month long contract, with possible extensions and pays very well. We could use the money.

My talk at the Austin Linux User Group went extremly well. They were basically stunned. It is always fun to show off NewI\O because techies are shocked that a networked program can run so fast.

There was one person there that said althugh he was impressed with technology he thought that it was likely to be dangerous to humanity, because personal computers enable individuals, and my technology would enable governements and large corporations to take back control of applications and data from the masses. The interesting thing is, that after I demonstrated my technology, no one in attendence thought the comments were hyperbole.
