Genocide in West Texas

The Plural Wife Blog is doing a much better job at covering the genocide in West Texas than I am. It is well worth a look if you want to see what the other side has to say instead of just accepting the media hysteria.

Also, Grits for Breakfast Blog is doing a great job, too.

P.S. Did I say I love Ben Stein? He is practically the only person left in this country who thinks for himself.

Smart Guys

Find all of the scientific mistakes in this article.

"Alien abduction claims come from "weirdos" and are unlikely."

Umm...if anyone reports this they are automatically labeled wierdo. That is hardly objective. This is pre-judgement and is not scientific.

"Alien life might not have DNA like us."

There is no life without DNA. How would that even be possible? This is obviously pure speculation.

"Watch out if you would meet an alien. You could be infected with a disease with which you have no resistance."

Umm...no. If you were different you would be less likely to be infected, not more. This is why Mac users never get PC viruses. The underlying environment is too different.

"if the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one has gone before."

Because why? Could you be trying to raise money for NASA here?

For a smart guy Stephen Hawking does not seem very bright. A smarter thing to say would be that as interesting as the possibility is that there is life out in space, so far there is no evidence for such a thing.

Now if you want a real smart guy not a pseudo smart guy you want Ben Stein. I want to go see his movie.

Faked Phone Call

So it looks like the girl that called the hotline was not someone in distress, but rather someone filing a fake report. I guess that explains why they did not arrest the accused.

This whole case has stunk from the very beginning. You would think that finding the person who made the initial fake phone call would be front page news, but it is difficult to find.

Will they say sorry, and return the children? I kind of doubt it.

Annual Haircut

I get maybe one or two haircuts a year. I got my annual haircut, yesterday. I look pretty much different. I will try to post a picture.

The downside is my 5 year old daughter thought it was such a great idea, she cut off her hair, too. I will try to post a picture.

I took the kids to Bull Creek Park yesterday. It was a beautiful day. The water was still chilly, but refreshing. The kids were catching pollywogs. As I was leaving I saw the sign that said "No swimming". Not sure what that was all about.

Ruth Ann and I saw the movie Smart People last night. I loved it! Good story. Good script. Good actors, actresses and acting. Good ending. Good everything.

My taxes are done. Just got to put it in an envelope and take it to the post office. I loath the IRS and wish April 15th was just another day.

The stuff the Feds are doing to the polygamous group in West Texas is just tragic. Why harass the whole community? If they have evidence of a crime why not arrest the person responsible? They met with him yesterday and let him go which makes me think that they must not have evidence. The whole thing is based upon one or more annonymous phone calls. They apparently do not even know who made them nor are they in contact with the person who made the calls. Today they are separating hundreds of mothers from their children. It is pure and simple persecution of people who are different. Very sad.

I thinking about quitting my first job, and cashing in my retirement and just being a full time student (only a student) for a year or so. Maybe even writing that book if they still want it. Ruth Ann is having a hard time adjusting to that possibility.

End of the Run

Apparently my stint at working two jobs is just about over. I was informed by my manager that they are not able to hire contractors for over a year, so as of June 30th they will have to let me go. It was a good run. I enjoyed working the second job, and paying off all of my credit cards.

I will really enjoy all of the new free time I am sure, so I can not say it is a loss. Still I would have liked to work some more and pile up some money for the future.

My manager said that he really wants to keep me and is still working with management and HR to see if some other arrangement can be worked out, so we will see. Either way I am good.

Update: I applied to go back to school. I have not decided for sure that I am going to do it, but I applied to give myself the option.

Easter Pictures

We celebrated Easter with the family. Becca posted some pictures.

April Fools Day

I knew I really botched it when my Kim said, "Dad. You did the Leaning Tower of Pisa last year!"

I thought I would be funny and posted to a friends blog, "Ha! Ha! Can't fool me." on what I thought was a serious post. Well it turned out it really was an April fool joke and I was spoiling their joke, so I had to delete it.

Here is a link to all the pranks. Not sure why my blog is not on the list.

UPDATE: I did NOT do Leaning Tower of Pisa last year! I just checked.

Penguins

There She Goes!

Apparently the Leaning Tower of Pisa finally fell down. Still the tower has stood for 835 years, so the builders should not feel bad. It was a real good run, and who knows? Maybe they can make another one?

Finally!

I do not know if this has come through in my blog posts or not, but I have been in a mid-life crises for some time now, well for basically the whole mid time of my life, but not the first period of my life, because that would be a first-life crises and I am not having one of those (or is would that be a front life crisis, I am not sure?). So anyway, you know how it is. You work, and work, and work. And then after that is more work. And then you come home and you work, and work, and work, etc. You know how that goes. So the bottom line is, well it just gets boring. And when I say boring, I mean BORING. Not boring, but REALLY BORING, BORING. You know what I mean? I know totally some of you do, but you won't admit it on your blogs, because of that whole image thing. I get yea. And that is what separates me from you, because frankly, I AM NOT AFRAID TO ADMIT IT. I am bored. BORED BORED BORED!

Sure I did the usual things that you do when you hit the old mid-life crises. I got the fast car. Chased the wild younger women. But to be honest that stuff COSTS MONEY! So anyway, now I am working two jobs. That kinda sux because now I do not have time to ride around fast and pick up the babes. And if it was not boring before its really boring now because two jobs is like totally work, you know? I know some of you get me on this, although you are probably not working two jobs like me, but you might be bored, like me although not BORED, BORED BORED like me, unless you are, but I will leave that to your blog, because I can't do everything. I can only be responsible for myself.

So anyway. I think I have finally found my true calling. I have decided to sell my kids into slavery and volunteer to help colonize Mars.
