What is Going on with Me
We spent last Sunday at the hospital with NatJ. He decided to dive off a bicycle while at full speed. He has a new appreciation for the need to wear a helmet. He is fine now.
My contract got renewed for the second job. This is really great news. I will need every penny of the money to settle with the IRS I think. We are trying to refinance the house, but it is a tough mortgage market at the moment. Hopefully it will all work out and be over with soon.
I went for a physical on Tuesday. My doctor says that I need to lose weight and I am working on it. I am not obese, but I am overweight. My Body Mass Index is 28 and it needs to be 25 or lower. That means I need to go from 207 to 185 pounds.
There is a lot of diabetes in my family, and the doctor said the more I work on it before I get diabetes, the longer I will delay in getting it myself. So not only do I need to lose weight, but I need to cut out sugars, carbs, starches, eat more protiens and vegetables and exercise every day.
There is a company picnic today at work. My boss is cooking fajitas.
I am really looking forward to home worship again this Saturday night.
Next week I am taking the Red Hat Enterprise Clustering and Storage Management (RH436) course. It should be both interesting and professionally rewarding.
On October 10th I go to Pittsburgh to help Quentin move back to Austin.

Home Worship
We had home worship tonight. We are doing it Saturday night so we can still participate in mainstream churches on Sundays.
We did holy kisses, singing (Emily several solos), dog piles for Jesus, dancing, Lord's supper, love feast, more singing, Bible study and prayer. I think we all enjoyed it. I think we will do it every Saturday night from now on.
I thought the purple robes would be cool, but RA said no. I guess she is just not as out there as I am.

OB Rules!

I grew up in San Diego, California. San Diego Bay opens to the Pacific Ocean to the south. In the middle of the bay is an almost island called Coronado. On the left side of San Diego is a peninsula and that peninsula is called Point Loma. I grew up on Point Loma, specifically Loma Portal. From my Dad's front porch you can see Coronado, and the bay. It is very pretty and the entire city is naturally air conditioned by the ocean whose current flows down from Alaska. Every time I go back I mean to get a picture of it to post here, but I always forget.
To the west, on the other side of the Peninsula is the beach, walking distance from my house. It might be more accurate to say that we grew up at the beach instead of the house. That beach is called Ocean Beach or O.B. for short. Up the coast there with other beaches like Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. There is some rivalry among the locals of the beaches, but by any standard our beach (O.B.) was way better than those other beaches.
Today I was at the hospital getting some blood drawn done for an annual physical next week and on the car next to me, with Texas plates, was a very familiar O.B. sticker with the flying sea gull. Cool! It made me a little home sick, even after all of these years.
Some good pictures of O.B. here.

Can't Afford Elderly Care?
Can you not afford to take care of your parents as they get elderly? Maybe you can suggest to them to do this.

BTW this is a cool link to learn about what is coming up.

The Journey of a Lifetime

My good friend Kara is traveling to Ukraine in the name of Jesus to do some mission work at a Ukraine orphanage, and also to hopefully adopt two twins that she previously hosted here in the United States. She has started a blog to document and share her adventure called Journey of a Lifetime.
Why not leave her a comment to encourage her?
What Do Royal Priest Wear?

I was talking to someone not too long ago who said she wanted to join my Christian Love Cult as long as she could keep her top on (!?!), which got me thinking about what we could wear. I was thinking something that a member of a royal priesthood would wear to help remind us of 1 Peter 2: 9. So any idea what that would be? Ornamental purple robes or what? Any ideas?
For Sunday I have a new sermon up, too, about What Does God Want?

A/C in the Mustang
Got my A/C fixed in my Mustang. It was under warranty so it did not cost me anything. I guess I should have done it a few months ago, but it seemed kinda of avant guard or vivre noir or something to be sweltering. But then that got old.

Notes: Employing the unique strategy of not using a Quarterback Andy comes up a little short.
Portland, OR Hornets, Terry 69
Nowhere Team BBB 58
Notes: Terry comes out on top with an impressive game by Tom Brady. She will have to play better next week to beat the powerful Austin Titans.

Nick Vujicic is a Giant of a Man

Do you ever thank God for your arms and legs?

Do you have a hard time trusting God when life is too overwhelming or doesn’t make any sense? We live in a busy world today where many are struggling to find purpose in everyday life. We are robbed of joy when we get lost in present struggles instead of seeing the incredible future God has in store for us. Born without arms or legs Nick Vujicic's birth appeared to all as a very tragic event. At a young age he thought his life had no purpose and couldn’t see a future worth living for. His life changed when he understood that God did not seek out his physical abilities but instead his availability. Nick now lives life full of joy with purpose that inspires us all to see past our present struggles & seek out the bigger picture the Lord has for us.
I believe that the Bible is true, and I believe the miracles found in the Bible, but I think the biggest miracle of all is the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives. I am amazed that there is no bitterness in Nick.
Check out this movie of Nick. I got scared when he went near the pool. Silly me.

Nick was a cute baby, huh?
His ministry is Life Without Limbs

Leaving for VB...
We are leaving now for Volente Beach. Hopefully it will not rain.
If you have never been here is a video.
If you have never been here is a video.
Happy Labor Day!
Happy Labor Day!
Did you know most of the world celebrates labor day on May Day (May 1st), but this was too closely connected with socialism so President Grover Cleveland supported a September holiday?
Did you know this is the traditional day for the Jerry Lewis telethon for Muscular Dystrophy?
Did you know that traditionally one did not wear white after Labor Day as white is for summer?
What are your plans?
I think we are going to relax (I worked the whole night before) and then maybe go to Volente Beach after the prices drop in the afternoon. Meet us there!

Miss Teen South Carolina
I feel sorry for her. I think she was just nervous. I wonder how many of the people making fun of her have ever spoken to a large audience before? It sounds like she is handling it well, though.
Someone Short on HIs Quota?
So the other day my dear wife gets a ticket for doing 35 on a 30 zone. That is so lame.
