Austin Clubs

I want to join The Austin Club. Do you think they will take me?

I know I will not be joining the Austin Country Club. It is very nice, but membership is be invitation only, and so far I have not received my invitation. It is strange, because according to the website it is a club who caters to those whose tastes are impeccable, which certainly sounds like me. My goal in life is to make them very sorry they passed on me.

Anyone want to start a competing club that is even MORE SNOOTY!?!

There are apparently 29 snooty clubs in Austin. If you join one of these clubs, then you are eligible to join the Austin Society which gets you privileges at all of the other clubs. Is it some sort of conspiracy?

Father Daughter Banquet

Our church sponsored a Father-Daughter banquet and dance. It was held at The Plantation House.

Went to the ballgame. The best part was that the Budweiser wagon was there! The dog is cool.

It seemed like a good time to steal a case of beer. Alas, right after this photo was snapped the dog jumped down and almost bit me. I never knew what the dog was for before, but now I know.

There was also a racecar there. NatJ loves racecars! No that was not a free RC car he got. He brought it with him. I am not sure why but my kids perfer to carry all of their possessions with them wherever they go.

David Bailey, the guitarist / vocalist is a co-worker and all around good guy, although not near as good of a guitarist as me. Vocals certainly he has me beat. Dave is the one on the left in the picture above.

If credit cards are such a bad deal for consumers, then obviously the way to get rich is to be on the other side of the deal and fund other people's credit cards. It used to be that there was no way to do that, except to perhaps buy common stock in the credit card companies. However, now, thanks to the Internet, you can fund other people's debt. Consumer banking without the banks. Very interesting.

Alan Shore or Denny Crane?

Boston Legal has rapidly become my favorite TV show. I think I secretly or not so secretly long to be dangerous to the opposite sex like Alan Shore. I mean I have a thick full head of hair so it should be possible, at least according to all of those Rogain, and Hair Club for Men commercials. But alas no women are throwing themselves at me. My guess is that I am coming across, if anyone notices at all, more like Denny Crane: ridiculous.

This is not all bad. Everyone loves Denny Crane. Maybe I should go with it and start modeling myself more like Denny. I think I will start dropping my name on people like Denny does:

"Chris Xxxxxxx"

and then just walk away.

I confess, I do like those sharp looking suits. Maybe I should start wearing a suit all of the time? You know maybe Dress for Success and all of that.

I have started to wear suspenders. I find that they work better at holding one's pants up than do belts because they directly oppose gravity. However I have found that they are a bit more difficult to manage. For example, I now have a better understanding of wearing a bra, because I, too have had to reach into my shirt to pull my strap up that fell over my shoulder.

I confess that for tonights ice cream social at church I wore a white shirt for much the same reasons that a young girl does. I wanted to show off my underlying suspenders just in case any attractive women in attendence had a suspender fetish. Alas, it went completly un-noticed.

Also, congrats to the kids there who won awards for something or other. I am not sure what, but I enjoyed the ice cream and I was careful to clap enthusiastically at all of the right times. In case you did not know, I am a VERY GOOD clapper. It is important to do one's part.

Google introduces a new service called G-Mail paper. Many times you need a hard copy of an important paper, and you may not have access to a printer. Now you can select certain e-mails and they will print it out and send it to you. How handy is that? Finally the idea of a paperless office is being exposed as the myth that it is.
