From the Houston Chronicle:

Note: This is mainstream press, not conspiracy blog postings.
Note: This is hard evidence from onsite mental health professionals, not lurid sensational media speculation.
Note: What we are being told does not add up. Judge for yourself:
...mothers who appeared to be good parents of healthy, well-behaved and emotionally normal kids...
I have worked in Domestic Violence/Sexual Abuse programming for over 20 years and have never seen women and children treated this poorly, not to mention their civil rights being disregarded in this manner
All the MHMR workers described themselves as impressed by the mothers they worked with
What they saw [of CPS] was so horrendous, they had to report it to the board
We were literally astounded at what they told us," Kite said. "They [CPS] are trampling all over human decency and those people's civil rights. ... We should not just sit here and let it happen.
Here is the damning part:
The written statements were given to the Hill Country MHMR board anonymously because the workers had signed agreements not to disclose what they had seen
Why are they not allowed to talk about what they have seen? Why the gag if this is all legit?

It is very difficult to figure out the "truth" behind what happened here. I have one friend who knows someone more closely connected with this investigation and thinks it was legitmate. There was a high incidence of broken bones - at a greater percentage than the average population experiences.
But I ran across these two articles that I thought you might be interested in:
Age Issues
Toll on Social Workers
I do wish they had been more careful about separating the moms and small children. There would have been logistic issues, but finding ways to keep them together would have been less traumatic for the young children.
Tough situation . . .
No, the broken bones was clearly misleading PR as the authorities are trying to spin the case. All of the evidence indicates that there are happy healthy chidlren.
From your own second link:
"These workers are used to going into homes where things are really bad and feeling good about moving children from risk and danger," Hansen said. "This situation is completely different. To look at the mothers and children, you would see love and affection and bonds, plus children who appear to be in good physical condition. It was wrenching to pull children away from their mothers."
People on my own blog have said the women were brainwashed. From your own link here is the truth from a witness:
They're not brainwashed, she says. They're not zombies. Each woman has her own personality. Some are funny. Some are quiet. All seem strong and independent.
They don't see themselves as victims, Secrest said. They see themselves as women with choices.
"This is the most delightful group of women," she said. "You can't put on TV or in the paper how individually funny they are, how kind and generous. They are very, very nice women. I am amazed they have been able to keep their sense of humor the way they have."
It is clear that what is being told to us by the state trying to cover their butts is not the reality of the situation.
The AP story was great news. I am glad the press is starting to ask the tough questions and not accept the hype. I predict this is going to end badly for Gov Perry and the state of Texas. It is embarassing. We look like ignorant hicks to the rest of the country.
